A Ring Group is a group of extensions that share incoming calls. Ring groups allow for calls to be distributed among users in a specific way. You can set up multiple extensions within a Ring Group, so if someone calls the main number of the Ring Group, a call will find the first available person.
There are 3 types of ring groups:
Cyclic — Also known as rollover. This allows an equal distribution of calls through the available extensions to make sure that everyone is assisting in answering calls. You can set the number of times the call cycles through the extensions before sending it to voicemail.
Cyclic Repetitive — A Cyclic Repetitive pattern allows calls to be distributed among all extensions in the group in the order that the extensions are entered. You can set the number of times the call cycles through the extensions before sending it to voicemail.
Simultaneous Ring — The Simultaneous Ring pattern ensures that all extensions will ring when a call is received. The first extension to pick up the phone will answer the call
